We are a licensed provider of Shorthand Reporter Continuing Education in the State of Illinois through the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.  Please click here for a copy of our certificate. 


Employees who have confirmed attendance at all 4 live sessions will receive a paid leave day in their WebHR account to use before April 23rd, 2023. Employees who cannot attend live will be able to watch video replays of most sessions. No paid leave day will be awarded video playbacks, but you may submit for continuing education hours through your WebHR account.


9:00am - Reporters Have Spoken!/Court Reporter Recruitment

Part I - Hon. Bradley Paisley, Circuit Judge, Fourth Circuit, Taylorville, Illinois, will share PowerPoint slides from Ed Con course presentation, explain demos and scenarios conducted at Ed Con, and the importance to educate your judge(s) on making the record.

Part II - Melissa Clagg, CSR, RPR, RMR, RDR, CRR, CRC - First Steps Program Coordinator - Court Reporter of 30+ years, will give an introduction to the NEW recruitment kit, announce a NEW class format, promote the FREE theory lesson provided by Court Reporting at Home or the six-week course by Project Steno, the need for testimonials to advertise and promote the profession, and searching for volunteers to be a class leader and/or mentor.


10:30am - Taxes 101 

Kimberly Theisen, CPA, will cover information on accounting and tax preparation, including 1099s.  There will be an overview of tax changes for the year, tax breaks, and incentives, as well as advice on the best practice for the season.

12:00pm - One hour lunch break

1:00pm - Active Shooter Training

Corporal Thomas Thorton, Deputy Sheriff, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, will deliver information on active shooter situations, offer proper responses for civilians and employees during an active shooter situation, and discuss the process of law enforcement. 

2:30pm - Case Catalyst or Eclipse Software

Pam Szczecinski(Case Catalyst) and Julie Samford (Eclipse) will each present a software training session with tips and tricks to best utilize the software.

2:30pm - Court Specialist/New Officials Bootcamp

Jill Layton, CSR, RMR, IL CRR, will provide helpful tips and tricks for court specialists and new official court reporters.  The information discussed will include tips on transcript formatting and preparation, tricky punctuation, naming files, backups and storage, voir dire, and tracking transcript statements and expenses. 

On demand - Sexual Harassment Training for CRS Employees

This session may replace any live session or it can be completed over the lunch hour - This session is a comprehensive and interactive online course using the model presentation provided by the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR). The course is hosted on the Thinkific platform and registered participants must click through the training curriculum prepared by IDHR and take a quiz at the end of each section.

Application for CE hours has been made to the Department of Professional Regulation. The seminar will be awarded six hours of continuing education credit pursuant to the CSR license renewal requirements established by the Department.
